Australia. My home country. The land down under.
Blessed with a rich and diverse landscape, culture and the ecosystem, Australia is unlike any other country. I am no doubt biased but I think Australia is a beautiful country everyone must add to their travel bucket list.
Leave footprints on the untouched white sand in Queensland where you can walk for hours along the coast and not meet a soul. Spot Kangaroos and their joeys or listen to the Kookaburra calls while you sip full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon among the rolling vineyards of Margaret River in Western Australia.
Melbourne and Sydney battle over who can claim superior barista skills at the most trendy of cafes, and with calendars full of events, I guarantee you will not be disappointed by either city.

TIME FRAME?
You will always need more time than you think to explore this huge country! It is a continent of its own.
Plan your time and money wisely before your big adventure.
You will need at least one week in both Sydney and Melbourne to scratch the surface.
A road trip just through Queensland would take three weeks, a comfortable road trip from Melbourne to Cairns would take at least six weeks at the very minimum!
To see all the major cities and relax on the beach take at least two – three months but again, the longer the better in this sun-kissed country.
TRAVELLING AUSTRALIA?
To explore Australia thoroughly, you must cover hundreds of kilometres!
The easiest option is to fly between the states, the major cities and regional airports are easily connected and affordable.
You could hire a car or van and road trip your way north to south. Make sure you are realistic of how far away everything actually is and the amount of petrol (gas) it will take.
There is a rail system that connects many east coast cities and several long haul trains that cross the desert.
Lastly a greyhound bus system zigzags across the country which is a popular choice for those wanting to move along the coast without worrying about a car and parking hassles.

MY BEST ADVICE?
- Take your time! This country is too massive to do a speedy zip around by car, bus or flights!
- Each state of Australia has its own feel and unique sights. Depending on the sort of trip you are after, certain states may be more interesting to you than others.
- Slip, Slop, Slap! That is the classic slogan we Australians are brought up singing! ‘Slip on a top, slop on the sunscreen and slap on a hat’. Australia’s sun is harsh and unkind. Don’t be another fried tourist on Bondi…
- Australia has a harsh environment and it needs to be respected if your are wanting a happy visit from animals, weather and terrain.
