Growing ever popular thanks to Game of Thrones and Sail Croatia, this sunny gem of a country offers the perfect blend of Mediterranean cobbled style, and relaxed island living.

TIME FRAME?

Dubrovnik: two to three days in this ‘Adriatic Pearl’ is all you need, and it’s the perfect spot to begin your island hop from!

Allow at least seven to ten days to island hop your way along Croatia’s coast. My favourite islands were Korcula and Hvar.

TRAVELLING CROATIA?

In the walled old town of Dubrovnik, walking is the only way to venture through the maze of streets.

If you are staying outside the old town, taxis are cheap and easy to find, or your hotel will call them for you.

MY BEST ADVICE?

  • Don’t leave Dubrovnik until you have walked along the top of the city wall. Avoid doing this in the middle of the day in summer, and bring a hat and plenty of water as there is very little shade as you circumnavigate!
  • Even if you don’t have time or the cash to take a multi-island ferry service, or a glamorous yacht charter, you can still make a day of it on the water. From Split, head to Trogir (definitely worth a visit itself) and hire a boat for the day. Alternatively, from Dubrovnik take a 15-minute ferry to Lokrum and enjoy your day out on the water!
