Travelling through Europe is travelling through a history book, and nowhere is this truer than in Germany.
The world’s future has pivoted on events and moments of time in this country to create the world we know today.
If you’re not a history buff, Germany has much more to offer. You will find the best bratwurst and pretzels, all day drinking beer halls, and a plethora of scenic castles and impressive palaces to explore.
TIME FRAME?
Germany is the fifth largest country in Europe, and actually boasts the largest population in the European Union with over 80 million people.
BERLIN – two to three days at a minimum, though you could happily spend a week
MUNICH – two to three days depending on how much time you spend in the beer halls…
TRAVELLING GERMANY?
Train, train and train. Germany’s railway system is state of the art and the epitome of German efficiency.
The main website for Germany’s train system is called Die Bahn, an unfortunate name…
There are many overnight trains from German cities to surrounding international cities which can save time rather than catching a flight.

MY BEST ADVICE?
- Make sure you are aware of the festivals that take place throughout the year as they can cause accommodation prices to hike like crazy! If you’re not joining Oktoberfest at the end of September, I would avoid Munich entirely during those weeks.
- Germany is fascinating and there is much to see, even outside the iconic cities. The Bavarian Alps are breath-taking and if you manage to be in Europe during the winter, Germany’s Christmas markets are the best in the world.
