Who else loves to devour copious quantities of Italian food!? I certainly do!
If you’re not eating mountains of pasta and pizza, I hope you’ll be sipping wine or licking gelato. Italy’s grand architecture astounds most travellers, from the domed skyline of Rome, to the mansions lining the canals of Venice.
Italy is the ultimate Mediterranean destination, one you could easily spend a year meandering through the major cities, quaint towns, and islands dotted along the coast. I think we all wish we had a year to dedicate solely to exploring Italy.

TIME FRAME?

Well, that’s not easy to answer! It really depends on what sort of holiday you’re after or are able to have.

Three days – You could get a quick snapshot of a city like Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples, Sorrento…

One week – Stick to a main city with day trips outside.

Two or three weeks – Experience a good dose of what Italy is all about.

One month – You’ll have ample time to traverse this drool-worthy country.

TRAVELLING ITALY?

The train is, hands down, the best way to move throughout the country.

You could hire a car and drive through the cities and countryside, but the streets are narrow, the drivers a little too relaxed… and the traffic jams in the big cities can be too much! I wouldn’t recommend it!

From Rome, the best way to reach Pompeii and Sorrento is by train, but going further south towards the Amalfi Coast is a bus trip.

MY BEST ADVICE?

  • Pack your stretchy pants… Italy is the epicentre of delicious carbs, gelato, and wine!
  • Be a true Italian and slow down… enjoy a long three course lunch in the piazzas, wander the streets until you’re lost.
  • As with most of Europe, I would avoid travelling to Italy in July and August.

WHERE SHOULD I GO?

Rome
