Vibrant, iconic and always buzzing with tourists and local, Sydney is an essential stop on your Australian travels.
Ever the show-off city, there is always a festival, concert, exhibition on in the city or a packed city beach to spend your sunny days at.

OPUS TRAVEL CARD

While travelling on public transport (ferries, bus, trains and light rail) through city, you need a Opal Card which works as a top-up-as-you-go pass that covers you from Sydney to the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Hunter, Illawarra and Southern Highlands.

These are available at train stations, Newsagents, Milk Bars (Tabacs) and online and are spending is capped at $15 a day for adults, $2.50 on Sunday and no more than $60 a week.

Click here to visit the official website for information about Opal Cards.

CHECK THE CALENDAR!

If you’re on a budget, don’t visit Sydney when big events are being held. Ever vibrant and bustling, there is always something on in Sydney and this hikes the accommodation prices sky high!

A dates few to be aware of:
Feb/Mar – Mardi Gras parade and Chinese New Year
March – Sydney to Hobart Sailing Race
June – Vivid Sydney city light show
Aug/Sept – City2Surf race from Hyde Park to Bondi
Nov/Dec – Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, Scultptures by the Sea, Carols in the Domain and the Harbour Bridge Firework Show

AIRPORT TRAINS

The best way to get from Sydney airport is certainly the Airport Link train which whizzes you to the city in just 13 minutes. An opal card will cover this journey or paper tickets can be issued either end.

For current information, prices and dates, click here to visit the official website of the Airport Link.

SLIP, SLOP, SLAP!

I can’t tell you how many tourists arrive in Australia and end up walking around as red as a lobster.

Not only are extreme suburns painful they are bad for your health and wellbeing. Australia’s sun is extreme and during the summer months you should be rubbing on that sunscreen, drinking plenty of water and wearing a hat.

Sorry to sound like a saftey monitor but there is nothing worse than having to be checked into hospital for sun stroke on your aussie holiday! It happens more than you think!
