US of A! What a diverse country! Each state has a different feel, drawl and cuisine to be tried!
Whether you are on a quick visit in a single city or on a massive state-crossing road trip, America is a fun and beautiful adventure to be had.
The landscape is diverse and iconic and each city’s skyline is unique. Embrace the questionable corn dogs and the tacky ‘I love NYC’ t-shirt, surf with laid back Californian locals and swish down the Vale slopes like a pro.
TIME FRAME?
This really depends how much time you have. You will never be able to see everything in one trip so write down your top five sights and see if you can make them work.
Remember – flying between L.A and NYC takes just under six hours with a three hour time difference. I would suggest picking either the East or West coast to explore, or northern, centre and southern states and explore them thoroughly rather than hop all the way across the country.
three days – most of the big cities can be seen in three days – LA, Chicago, SLC, Las Vegas, San Fran, Seattle, Miami etc.
one week – NYC needs a week to do it justice, other than NYC you could combine a city and make a few day trips in a week.
one month – minimum for a proper road trip across country but you could easily spend three or four and not get bored!
TRAVELLING USA?
Again, this depends on how much time you have. Flying obviously moves you quickly and sometimes with the long distance between most cities it is the best option.
There are long distance buses but I would recommend flights over bus trips.
If you feel comfortable enough driving, hiring a car is simple and the vehicle is always an automatic. With GPS these days, driving around the states is a great idea.

MY BEST ADVICE…
Be mindful of the time of year you will be travelling and which part of the country. Will it be snowing? Baking hot in the desert?
Give yourself a realistic amount of time to see the sights, each state is vast and interesting.
Remember the size of the meals are humongous! I find I could get by on one or two meals a day.
If you are in need of some healthy food in your day, Wholefoods and Trader Joe’s Supermarkets are my favourite food stops to visit. There is a self serve section with the most delicious salads, soups, pastas, hot veggies, pizza bars, sushi and an extensive deli section but this is definitely not the cheapest food stop.
If you are visiting many of the breath-taking National Parks dotted across the country, look into whether it would be more economic to purchase the annual pass. This is $80 and most of the park entrance fees range between $10 – $30.
